Resized Golf Shirt

This isn't much of a tutorial but I wanted to share anyhow. Every year my hubby's work holds a golf tournament and I go along and keep him company for the day. They have golf shirts made every year and this year for some reason all of the shirts were really big. I wasn't keen on wearing a shirt that looked like a nightgown on me so I resized mine and now I love it. My shirt was originally the same size as James', which you can see below, with super long sleeves and came all the way down to my knees.
I used a shirt that I like the fit of as my guide, traced around it on top of the golf shirt, cut off the excess fabric from the sides and bottom and cut off the sleeves. I then pinned the sides together, leaving an opening for the arm holes and sewed the sides together. I then hemmed the bottom up and the arm holes and was done! It took like 15 minutes to do and I really like the fit of it.
(Here's an awesome picture of me with it on, haha!)
You don't always have to be satisfied with what you are given, sometimes you just have to make it work for you.

Crunchy No Bake Cookies

We were craving some homemade cookies and since I hate to turn on the oven unless I have to when it's warm out, Scarlett and I whipped up a batch of no bake cookies.

Here's what you will need if you want to make some too:

1 3/4 cups white sugar
1/2 cup milk (we use almond milk but you can use any kind of milk and it still seems to turn out just fine)
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
3 cups quick-cooking oats
3 tablespoons chia seeds
3 tablespoons flax seeds
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

And here's what you will do with those ingredients:

♥In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa.
♥Bring to a boil.
♥Once boiling, stir continuously for approximately 1 1/2 minutes.
♥Remove from heat, and stir in peanut butter, oats, chia seeds, flax seeds and vanilla.
♥Drop by tablespoon onto wax paper lined cookie sheet.
♥Place in fridge and let cool until hardened.
♥Once hardened remove from cookie sheet, eat or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
I let Scarlett lick the spoon when we were done since these have no eggs in them and she was quite delighted! I didn't even have to wash the spoon and cookie scoop because she licked them so clean, ok maybe I tossed them in the dishwasher but she licked every ounce of cookie off of them.

Enjoy Life

I think it's important to remember that most things are just here for a season, sleepless nights and endless messes to clean but so are a lot of the wonderful things and you don't want to miss them because your too focused on the difficult.

Today I want to remember...
the special smiles that were meant just for me.
the look on my kids faces when they figure out something for the 1st time.
them playing together like best friends and not fighting.
the hugs we exchange just because.
and all the other little things that can sometimes just slip by.

I want to enjoy EVERY day!

Indoor Roadways

With the kids stir crazy from the heat we were looking for something new to do inside. I went to the garage, grabbed a roll of painters tape and created a roadway that ran through the house. We then took some of the kids Little People buildings and used them as destinations along the road calling them grandma and grandpas house and such.
Suddenly their toys became a little cooler too now that they were in new places in the house.
Scarlett had fun traveling from one place to the next with little cars while Taylor enjoyed just walking along the roads.
It kept them busy and was a cinch to clean up when they were done, we will definitely be doing this again.

Rock Star Shower Guest Book

I loved having a guest book at my baby showers that I could look back at and read bits of encouragement from my family and friends. I wanted to make sure my sister had the same thing so I put together a little something for her.
We set up a little table with the E L I paintings I did for Eli's room, a photo album filled with all the belly pics I took of her and had a stack of paper onesies I cut out for everyone to write a note on. After all the notes were written they were added to the photo album as a special memento from the shower. When little Eli grows up he can read them all and see just how much his momma is loved too.
