Zucchini Eggs

It is an ongoing battle trying to find foods that the kids like. I feel like as soon as I have it all down, their taste buds change and they cringe when try to feed them what was once a beloved favorite. During the ongoing battle to try and incorporate more veggies in their diet we stumbled upon a winner, zucchini in eggs. The kids don't even detect them and they are tasty. We just grate them in the pan and cook them right along with scrambled eggs, I always add a little shredded cheese to top it off. These are the happy faces of kids eating their veggies, they just don't realize it.
Some others that work great are pureed cauliflower, although not many people tend to have that on hand, and diced bell pepper. We try to sneak shredded spinach in there sometimes but they usually spot that one. Do you have any favorite veggies that you like to add to your eggs?

No Mess Finger Painting

A few nights ago we were attempting to make dinner and the kids were going crazy, I knew it was time for an activity. I didn't want a big mess to have to clean up so I tried something a little different with our finger paints. I took a Ziploc freezer bag, put a piece of card stock inside, squirted a few globs of finger paint into the bag, zipped it shut and gave one to each of the kids. This is pretty the only way we will be finger painting from now on.
The kids were fascinated watching me set up their bags and were so excited when I handed them theirs.
Taylor squished his around with his hands and Scarlett used her fingers to trace around in the paint
I was surprised how well we the paint moves around in the bags, I had just as much fun with this as the kids did.
Once they started getting bored I pulled one last trick out and got down our cookie cutters to use as "stamps". They left perfect impressions in the paint and the kids always love playing with the cookie cutters.
When we were finished it was so easy to clean up, no mess and the kids didn't have a spot of paint on them, Yeah!

Patriotic Strawberries

These were probably the easiest things I have ever "cooked" and every one of them was scarfed up. If you want to make some too, here's what you do:
♥Buy a pack of strawberries and a package of white chocolate chips. Also pick up food coloring and shortening if you don't have any.
♥Wash the strawberries and pat them dry with a paper towel.
♥Line a cookie sheet with foil.
♥Take two microwavable bowls and divide the bag of white chocolate chips in two, filling one of the bowls a bit more then the other.
♥Add 2 teaspoons of shortening to each bowl
♥Microwave the bowl with the larger amount of chips, stopping every 15 seconds to stir, until melted.
♥Dip your strawberries in the white chocolate, leaving a red strip
♥Lay on your cookie sheet until hardened. (I sat mine in front of a little fan to speed things up)
♥Add a few drops of blue food coloring to your second bowl
♥Microwave just like the other one
♥This time it didn't turn into nice melted chocolate, instead it was a solid clump. I don't know if it has to do with the food coloring or what. Feel free to give me any tips on this one!
♥I then added a splash of milk to the chocolate, stirred it and it turned nice and smooth again.
♥Take a spoon and drizzle over the strawberries, giving them stripes
♥Give yourself a high five cause you just made a good looking dessert to share with friends and it took you like 20 minutes and no oven was required, Yeah!

Enjoy!!

Diaper Bassinet

I was going to a baby shower recently and the mom was only asking for diapers since this is her second girl on the way. I was going to just go pick up a pack of diapers but then I ran across this idea for a diaper bassinet and knew I had to make it.
I made a few changes but for the most part just followed her tutorial. I banded together 10 diapers with a rubber band, then I inserted a cardboard strip in into a diaper that I used as the back of the bassinet. I then opened and draped a diaper over the top to make the canopy piece, tucking it into the rubber bands on the sides.
Once I had it all assembled I wrapped a piece of lace all the way around the rubber band and held it in place with a couple squirts of hot glue.
Once that was dry I wrapped it again in a purple beaded trim I had on hand and secured it with a bit more hot glue.
I finished off the bassinet with three matching flower hair clips that I made clipped along the back, one for mommy and one for each of her girls.
It was a lot of fun to make and the mommy to be loved it, which always makes you feel good.
